YHRI holds successful program to celebrate universal human rights' declaration

MAIN A special program to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was hosted by the Sweden branch of Youth for Human Rights International(YHRI) on December 10 in Stockholm, the Swedish capital.

The program, which brought together scores of speakers from many corners of the world, was held under the theme “Dignity and Justice for All of Us.”

To highlight the occasion, several renowned artists, including a Sweden-based Uganda dance troupe, thrilled the audience with exciting numbers.

One of the artists, Andrea Gerak, who also served as artistic director of the event, told Nordic Africa News that the program was a success.

“We got feedback like ‘one of the best events I have ever attended,” she said and added other attendees noted that the event was a "very high quality artist program, yet it was not too formal, it had a nice, relaxed atmosphere",

Gerak noted that others said "it was very good to hear the speakers from different parts of the world and learn about human rights issues there, Nubia (Sudan), Tibet and it was especially good to hear about how well they solved problems in Rwanda. It was fantastic to have it international with participants from so many countries".
