Cuttington University alumni stage awards night

The awards are named in honor of Liberia’s former ambassador to the US, Jeremiah C. Sulunteh

Several prominent Liberians will be honored on April 29 when the Cuttington University Alumni Association in the Americas (CUAAA) holds its first annual Ambassador Jeremiah C. Sulunteh Academic Achievement Awards. The program will be held at the Crofton Country Club in Crofton, Maryland, USA.
 
CUAAA President Glendy Junius-Reeves said the honorees are divided into three categories. 
 
She noted that the officials of the association voted to name the awards in honor of Ambassador Sulunteh from among a list of five prominent alumni of the institution. Ambassador Sulunteh, Liberia’s former ambassador to the US, got a majority of the votes.

The president added that the ambassador has been really helpful to raise funds for the association and has responded favorably whenever the association called on him.
 
Dr. Stephen Kaifa, Dr. Evelyn Kandakai and Dr. Melvin Mason will be inducted into the academic hall of fame. Others who will be so honored are Dr. Rudolph Bropleh, Ambassador Dr. James Tarpeh and Bishop Bernie D. Warner, a former vice president of Liberia.
 
Those to be recognized for academic achievements are  Dr. Joe Baysah, Rev. Dr. Herman B. Browne, who currently serves as president of Cuttington University;  Dr. Kondeh Greaves, Cllr. Betty Kolleh-Smith, Dr. Ansu Mason and Dr. Sam Ngovo. Others are Dr. Rudolph Bropleh, Rev. Dr. Wilfred Mayango and Dr. Charlotte Steward-Stubblefield.

Rev. Dr. J Edwin Lloyd and Rev. Dr. Abba Karnga will be honored as community leaders.
 
Meanwhile, CUAAA will host its annual reunion from August 18-20 in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. The program is also intended to raise funds for the association’s projects in Liberia. Cuttington University is a major institution of higher learning in Liberia.
