Dehkontee Artists plan European tour

We are planning to travel to Europe on a performance tour to promote the culture and history of our beloved country, Liberia. Also, we hope to raise much needed funds to help us provide much needed services to the people of Liberia in the realms of civic education to prepare the citizens for the forthcoming presidential elections in 2017; as well as promote the culture of peace, reconciliation and rehabilitation through the performing arts.
Against this backdrop we pray that you will also be instrumental in making sure that our proposed tour will be given the maximum publicity and support it deserves in order to be successful. Attached is a brochure about our activities for the past thirty-eight years as Liberia’s leading theatre organization. We will rely on your good judgment regarding which European cities we should prioritize in terms of dense population of Liberians and how you as an organization in your host country can assist with accommodations, publicity, and the theatrical venues where we can hold our performances. Look forward to your patronage and timely responses and suggestions.
Below are some of the services we hope to provide to the people of Liberia through our performing arts, peace education and rehabilitation programs:
Through our civic education program we can engage post war Liberian citizens to participate in a wholesome functioning democracy, engage in fruitful dialogues, and promote a culture of peace and equality and freedom of expression

Above is a scene from Joe Gbaba's "The Minstrel's Tales" performed by Dehkontee Artists Theatre at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in 1992. Promoting cultural awareness is very crucial to maintaining stability, national unity, and sustainable peace, rehabilitation and reconciliation in a post war society. We believe that with the requisite financial, material, and moral supports in place we can do an excellent job of once again reuniting our people and creating national consciousness through the promotion of our national hegemony via the performing arts--through drama, music, dance, etc.

With the requisite funding and logistical support we can provide an efficient early literacy program for post war Liberian children to improve the literacy rate in Liberia and to secure a brighter future for post war Liberian children

Above are members of the Dehkontee Artists Theatre Children's Peace Theatre engaging in a family friendly interaction after their performance during the cultural extravaganza. The peace process should be inclusive by engaging children in promoting peace and reconciliation because they are the most victimized during civil unrests. This may also provide them self-expression skills as well as develop their innate talents to become eloquent public speakers and ambassadors of peace. Members of the DATI Children's Peace Theatre receive acting lessons, as well as training in improving their literacy skills: writing, reading, speaking, listening, and problem-solving and peaceful conflict resolution skills

We inboxed Ambassador Sheriff on Facebook a live video or our participation during the cultural extravaganza in Washington, D.C. We hope it can be retrieved and shared with the public in Rome and other parts of Europe if possible. This is just the tip of the iceberg. More information and documents will be sent in the near future to keep you updated.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
