Sweden: Info meetings for women entrepreneurs

Forum Syd, a development cooperation organization in Sweden, will hold four  information meetings for female entrepreneurs for the Swedish-Somali Business Program (SSBP) this month.

The first is scheduled for March 21 in Stockholm. Malmo (March 23), Gothenburg (March 24) and Orebro (March 27) are other venues and dates for the information tour. Further meetings are slated for April and June.

Forum Syd notes that because female entrepreneurship is expected to promote inclusive growth, it is an objective that at least 25% of the companies covered by the program are run by women. With this in mind, these information meetings are for women only.

According to a message posted on Facebook, Forum Syd, the largest civil society platform in Sweden, the meetings are intended to provide information to entrepreneurs on how they can apply for financial support.

SSBP is a capacity-enhancing program that provides financial and technical support to entrepreneurs who establish sustainable companies in Somalia. It has a human rights perspective on the private sector’s development with the goal of creating jobs and contributing to the rebuilding of Somalia.

Companies adopted in SSBP receive, in addition to financial support, business consultancy, capacity support and technical support.

The program, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency and implemented by Forum Syd, is aimed at small and middle-sized enterprises (SMEs) wishing to establish their operations in Somalia or expand their current operations in Somalia.
