Liberia: Project aims to improve primary education

A three-day Outcome Mapping Forum of the Teaching and Learning in Fragile Contexts (TLFC) Project was held recently in Monrovia, Liberia’s capital.

The forum aimed to bring education partners and stakeholders together so they can jointly develop the detailed pathways of change and the eventual outcomes of the TLFC Project being implemented by CODE, TALLE (in Sierra Leone) and WE-CARE Foundation (in Liberia) and funded by the Canadian Government.

The forum was facilitated by a joint delegation from CODE Canada and CODE Sierra Leone.  Its ultimate goal is to improve learning outcomes in primary schools in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

TLFC Project is working with teacher training colleges in Liberia and Sierra Leone to improve teaching and learning with a focus on literacy/early grade reading and enhancing the effectiveness of the practicum for student teachers.

WE-CARE Foundation implements the TLFC Project in Liberia and is working with four colleges (Bomi Community College, David A. Straz College, Harbel College, J.J. Roberts College/UMU) and 12 primary schools in Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi and Montserrado Counties.
