A number of female African footballers are plying their trade this season in the Swedish football championship which started over the weekend.
 
Nigerian defender Faith Ikidi is in her 8th season in the Damallsvenskan, Sweden’s top female football league. The 30-year-old is on the books of Pitea.
 
Malawian Tabitha Chawinga and Ghana’s Elizabeth Addo are strike partners at Kvarvsveden IK while Nigerian forwards Ogonna Chukwudi and Rita Chikwelu are flying the colors of Kristianstads. Another Nigerian, midfielder Ngozi Okobi is at Vittsjo.
