Africans on target in Swedish Cup

African strikers proved their worth as the Swedish Cup, comprising of teams from the different tiers of Swedish football, kicked off last weekend.

Zimbabwean international Tino Kadewere scored twice as premiership side, Djurgarden trounced Degefors 6-0 while Tunisian Issam Jebali strucked in the 23rd minute as his team Elfborgs suffered lost 3-2 at home to Gais.

AIK recorded a 2-1 victory over Syrianska in a match that saw Eritrean striker Henok Goitom raised the curtains in the 13th minute.

Another Eritrean Tesfaldet Tekle came on as a substitute to score in Ostersund’s 3-0 win over Trelleborg. 

Kennedy Igboananike was on target for Orebro in a 3-0 win over Tvaaker. The Nigerian opened the scoring in the 42nd minute.

Gabonese international Serge-Junior Martinsson Ngouali scored as Hammarby beat Vasalund 3-1. Congo DR’s Mai Traore provided the consolation for Vasalund.

In the female division, Nigerians Ogonna Chukwudi and Rita Chikwelu  scored once and thrice respectively as Kristianstad dismissed Qviding 7-0 while Malawian Tenwa Chawinga struck three times in the two victories that her team Kvarnsveden has recorded in the competititon. Chawinga provided the lone goal in a 1-0 win over IK Uppsala and scored twice in a 4-2 victory over Alvsjo
