Liberia, one of the countries in Africa, is slowly losing credibility in the fight against drug abuse.

While the police and drug enforcement agencies are trying to eradicate drug abuse in Liberia, drug trafficking remains a lucrative business.

Liberia is making progress when it comes to discovering and storing drugs.

The embarrassing part is how such huge amounts of drugs still enter Liberian territory. That’s the question on everyone’s mind in the capital city, Monrovia: What’s happening with security at our borders, airports, and seaports?

From the looks of things, one can easily conclude that there is financial backing and a network of drug cartels in Liberia. Liberia is being used as a dumping ground for drug trafficking.

There is wide speculation in Monrovia and its surroundings that some Liberians have become successful through drug trafficking. There is no credible evidence to support such claims.

In my opinion, that is wishful thinking. Some Liberians are rich because of hard work and family inheritance. We must give credit to hardworking Liberians.

Congratulations to all law enforcement officers in Liberia, but the fight against drugs remains an ever-challenging task. Drugs don’t enter by grave mistakes.

Someone in a position of authority is fully aware of this deadly and lucrative business.

The only remedy is to stop drug dealers and criminals from entering Liberia’s borders illegally.

In addition, we need patriotic law enforcement officers who will not compromise security intelligence for a quick buck.
