Liberian goalkeeper on trial with Swedish club

Liberian international goalkeeper Ashley Williams is reportedly on trial with Swedish division one club FC Linkoping City.

In a facebook post, his current Liberian club LISCR did not provide details but wished the 19 year-old the best.

Efforts to get more information from the Swedish side, which competes in the third tier, proved fruitless.

Williams distinguished himself in September when he saved a last minute penalty in Liberia’s 1-0 loss to Sierra Leone, a score which took Liberia to the group stage of qualifications for the 2022 World Cup on a 3-2 aggregate. He also plays for the Liberian U-20 national side.

FC Linkoping City, who also features Ghanaian midfielder Lawson Sabah, came third in division one last season.
