A group of Liberians in Europe has described the election of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai as presidential candidate of Liberia’s ruling Unity Party as a manifestation of his “longstanding record of excellent public service.”

Liberian Patriots in Europe (LPE), chaired by Michael G. Mueller, in a short press release issued on July 10, said VP Boakai’s service to Liberians is the reason why partisans of the Unity Party decided to have him lead the effort to improve the socio-economic conditions of all Liberians.

LPE, a continent-wide organization with members in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Holland, France and Belgium, among others, has pledged its support to ensuring that Vice President Boakai is elected as president come the 2017 elections, noting that Boakai has, over the years, demonstrated love, unity, development and commitment to national duties and economic empowerment.

Presidential and legislative elections in the West African country are scheduled for next year.
