Liberia’s Youth and Sports Minister has denied media reports that he has fired several employees of the ministry.

D. Zeogar Wilson said that he only instructed that 92 persons who were not employees of the ministry but were on ‘special allowance’ as contractors and consultants to stay home until a thorough review can be conducted.

He said media reports suggesting that he has fired several employees of the ministry were intended to paint him negatively in the eyes of the public.

Minister Wilson, who was recently appointed by President George Weah and confirmed by the national legislature, noted that during his term there will be no one receiving pay for work that he or she did not do. There will be no monkey works, baboon draws, he emphasized.
