Nigerian striker Obasi back at Swedish football champs AIK
Nigerian striker Chinedu Obasi has returned to Swedish football champions AIK after a stint last season at Elfsborg. The 32-year-old this week signed a deal for a season.
Obasi became a fan favorite at AIK in 2016 for his goals and left the club for a short time at Chinese club Shenzhen FC in January 2017. He returned to AIK after just six months before joining English side Bolton Wanderers in March last year. He later moved to Elfsborg in August last year, scoring four times for the outfit in the latter stages of the Swedish premiership last season.
“It is always a pleasure to be back in AIK because, as I said before, it is home and I’m looking forward to performing in front of our amazing fans and I can’t wait to meet the team and everyone. I look forward to the preparation and the league, Chinedu Obasi told the club’s website.
AIK Sports Chief Björn Wesström said “Chinedu Obasi is a player who will contribute to consolidating and developing the performance level in AIK. With his experience and qualities, we will be able to develop the game and be more flexible purely tactically.”
In another development, Nigerian youngster Chidiebere Nwakali has joined another top Swedish side, Kalmar FF in a four-year deal from Polish club Rakow Czestochowa.
