Sweden appoints new UN ambassador

Sweden today appointed Ambassador Anna Karin Eneström as new Head of the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations (UN) in New York.

Ms Eneström is currently Deputy Head of the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations.

She has previously held the position of Director-General for Political Affairs at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and has been Deputy Chef de Cabinet of the Office of the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

In addition, Ms Eneström has served at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi and the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York.

She has also been Sweden’s Ambassador in Islamabad (Pakistan) and Kabul (Afghanistan), and served as Sweden’s representative to the Political and Security Committee (PSC) at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU in Brussels.
