The Organization of Sierra Leoneans in Sweden (ORSLIS) has started a campaign to raise funds for the victims of the flood and mudslide which left over 300 dead and thousands displaced on Monday in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

According to information posted on the organization’s facebook page money generated from the gofundme campaign will go toward helping victims who are in immediate need of food, shelter and clothing.

Meanwhile, in another statement on its page, the organization, through its chairman Emmanuel Foday, extended its deepest sympathy for the loss of lives and properties from the disaster.

“… we deeply express and share empathy with the families of the lost and displaced victims in Freetown today from this natural disaster,” the statement added.

ORSLIS called on every Sierra Leonean to respect the dead and, as a nation, to join hands and be proactive to this uncontrollable natural disaster that has caused the lost of lives and properties .

“As we’re just re-covering from the Ebola outbreak few years ago. Our nation is stronger than ever as we’re ready to fight through this mudslide and regain our stance again,” it noted.
