Liberian group seeks aid for back-to-school program

A Liberian organization is seeking donations to its back-to-school program to provide much-needed supplies for Liberian students.

Sister 4 Sister International works to empower women and youths through education, skills training, advocacy and peace building, notes its founder and executive director Janice Smallwood-Malekebu.

Malekebu adds that “Every year we hold a “BACK 2 SCHOOL PROGRAM” where we provide school supplies and scholarships to over 100 students.

“These are children who are desperately in need either because their parents cannot afford to send them to school or because they are orphans whose guardians have little or no means of sending them to school.

“We are currently working in rural Montserrado and Bomi. Our BACK 2 SCHOOL PROGRAM is held from August to October which is the beginning of the school year and runs right up to our Christmas program where we also provide gifts and host a party for underprivileged children who would otherwise not have anyone caring for them.”
