50 Liberians get training in insurance brokerage

About 50 Liberians, mainly youths from various communities across Montserrado County, have benefited from a nine-day comprehensive training in insurance brokerage.
The training was provided by Confident Brokers Insurance Incorporated, a new Liberian-owned insurance brokering company.
The participants, who were drilled through the core and relevant aspects of insurance brokerage, are expected to serve as first field agents of Confident Brokers Insurance Inc., a subsidiary of the Asian Africa Trading Group of Company with head offices located in Oldest Congo Town, outside Monrovia, the Liberian capital.
Courses covered during the training exercises included non- life insurance, life insurance, sales and marketing.
A colorful closing program held at the head office of the company was attended by a cross section of Liberians and very joyous and enthusiastic participants who are now carving a new niche in the insurance sector.
In welcome remarks, John K. Donner, general manager of the Asian-Africa Group of Company, said Confident Insurance Broker is a new firm with a great potential in driving the insurance business in the country.
Mr. Donner encouraged the participants to use the skills acquired to go out and be good ambassadors of the company as they go about scouting for clients to invest in the insurance business.
Mr. Donner said in the future the Asian-Africa Trading Group of Company will go into agriculture, sanitation and construction.
In a special statement, Cecil Brown, board chairman of Confident Insurance Brokers and chief executive officer of the Asian-Africa Trading Group of Company, said the insurance company was a dream envisaged by a friend who acquainted him with the idea of establishing an insurance company, an idea which he bought and has therefore invested in.
Mr. Brown asserted that the Asian Africa Trading company has the potential of building the capacities of Liberian youth and create a chain of job opportunities.
He said there will be job creation and youth empowerment in Liberia to help national growth and development.
The young Liberian business executive with holdings also in Ghana, United Arab Emirate and Tanzania noted that he wants to see Liberians empowered in different strands of business, including sanitation, agriculture, insurance and construction.
Earlier, in introductory remarks, Tyrone Weedee, CEO of Confident Brokers Insurance said the company was established to provide an opportunity for Liberian youth to be exposed to the world of insurance brokerage.
He stressed that the company is a perfect avenue for job creation in the local insurance sector.
The participants were upbeat from the training and vowed to make use it in advancing their careers. They lauded the company for affording them the rare opportunity of undergoing training in the insurance business.
